Enjoy the feeling of the wind on your face and the blood pumping through your veins as you explore Queenstown’s natural beauty from the best vantage point - on the water.  

DEPARTURE & DURATION:

  • Trips are one hour on the water. Please allow up to two hours for the whole experience including check-in and instruction. 
  • All trips depart from the Hydro Attack wharf next to Earnslaw Park on the Queenstown Lakefront.

TRIP TIMES & AVAILABILITY: 

  • 8.45am, 10.45am, 12.45pm, 2.45pm and 4.45pm (on demand).
  • Availability for 5-10 people per trip.  
  • Trips can be subject to minimum numbers to confirm. 

WHAT TO BRING:

  • A credit card and ID (sorry no debit cards) for the jet ski rental form
  • Clothes and footwear that can get wet and are suitable for the weather
  • Sunglasses
  • A warm upper layer
  • A windbreaker or waterproof jacket is highly recommended (but they do have light waterproof jackets available if needed)

RESTRICTIONS:

  • Drivers Age: The minimum age to drive is 18 years old. 
  • Child Age: The recommended age for children to ride as passengers is 8 years and above.
  • A Parent or Legal Guardian must complete a waiver form for all children 17 years and under riding as passengers.
  • Maximum combined weight per jet ski for driver and passenger is 230kg.
  • Customers need to understand basic English.
  • Life jackets are provided but customers must be comfortable floating in a life jacket in the water to go on this trip.
  • You don’t require a jet ski licence or drivers licence for this tour.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

  • Windy and Wet Weather - Jet Ski Tours Queenstown can be affected by high winds and stormy conditions on the lake. All customers need to do a weather check on our free phone number 0508 493 762 two hours before their trip departure time.
  • Cancellation Policy - 24 hour cancellation and amendment policy applies. A full refund will be given with at least 24 hours notice prior to your booking. No refunds/changes/transfers with less than 24 hours notice . If you do not show up no refunds will be issued.

Includes: Guided 1 hour tour. Single Jet Ski is 1 person per ski. Driver must be 18+ years.

Includes: Guided 1 hour tour. Double Jet Ski is for 1 driver and 1 passenger: 2 people per jet ski. The driver must be 18+ years and the passenger must be 8+ years. Maximum combined weight 230kg.

What do I need to bring?

  • Please bring a credit card (sorry no debit cards) and a form of ID for the jet ski rental form

Do I need to book?
Early bookings are highly recommended due to limited spaces available. To avoid disappointment please book early through our booking form online.

How long does the tour last?
One hour on the water. Please allow up to 2 hours for the whole experience. Please check in at the kiosk 15 minutes before the trip time. The operator will then do a safety briefing and instruction on how to drive the jet skis on the shore then launch the jet skis.

Do I need a licence to drive a jet ski on this tour?
No in New Zealand you don’t need a jet ski licence or drivers licence to drive a jet ski.

Is there a minimum age to drive?
The minimum age to drive solo or with a passenger is 18 years old.

Is there a minimum age to ride as a passenger?
Yes, the recommended minimum age to ride as a passenger is 8 years old and Jetski Tours Queenstown reserve the right to raise the minimum age on days when the lake conditions are rough. A parent or guardian must accompany any children and fill in our child waiver form. If you have children under 8 years old please contact us before booking.

Where do the tours depart from?
Jet ski tours depart from the berths at the Lapsley Butson Wharf, on the Queenstown Lakefront by Earnslaw Park in central Queenstown. Check in at the booking kiosk on the lakefront in front of Patagonia Chocolates, next to Earnslaw Park.

Where do we go on the tour?
On the day your guide will give you a run down of which areas are the best to head to based on the current lake conditions. You start your trip by cruising out of Queenstown Bay. Once you’re past the 5 knot zone marker you can pick up speed and head for Hidden Island. Once there, out of the major boating lanes, there will be 15 minutes for everyone to play around and get used to their jet ski. The final half hour will be a tour following the guide to explore the lake.

What should I wear?
Wear suitable clothes and footwear on the jet ski for the weather you you’ll probably get wet and bring a change of clothes as depending on the conditions. Bring a waterproof jacket or wind jacket if you have one and a warm upper layer like a thermal or a sweatshirt. They also have a limited supply of windbreakers available for use.

Will I get wet?
Yes, it’s highly likely you’ll may end up damp from the spray. Please dress appropriately for the spray and wind chill.

Is there a weight restriction?
Maximum combined weight per jet ski for driver and passenger is 230kg.

Is my trip weather dependent?
Yes Jetski Tours Queenstown can be weather dependent. Jetski Tours Queenstown’s operation can be affected by high swell on the lake, heavy rain or stormy conditions so we ask that you call our freephone number 0508 493 7628 to do a weather check two hours before your trip departs.

Can I drive the jetski if I have an injury?
If you have any specific medical condition including breaks or fractures or you suffer from back or neck problems please advise us at time of booking so we can assess and advise your suitability to travel. Unfortunately if you are pregnant or have a serious heart condition we do not recommend that you come out on the tour.

Where can I put my belongings and can I bring my phone with me?
Each jet ski has a waterproof compartment in the front and a small dry bag where you can put your valuables. You can also leave your bag or belongings in the locked wharf bin at the kiosk.

Can I cancel my booking?
A full refund will be given with at least 24 hours notice prior to your booking. No refunds/changes/transfers with less than 24 hours notice. If you do not show up no refund will be issued.

Do customers need to be able to understand English?
Yes, During the tour verbal instructions will be given by the guide. Drivers and passengers need to be able to understand basic English to go on this tour.

Do I need to be able to swim?
All drivers and passengers will be given a lifejacket so you don’t need to be a great swimmer to come out on a tour but you do need to be comfortable floating in the water in your lifejacket in the unlikely event you fall off your jetski.
