Book - Skyline Gondola & Luge

The Skyline Queenstown Luge is a thrilling ride for all ages and abilities and one of the top things to do in Queenstown.

Jump on your specialised Luge cart, select your track, then take control as you zoom down the Luge. Catch the Luge chairlift back to the start zone and do it all over again - once is never enough!

The Scenic Track is a leisurely ride with gentle gradient, easy bends, tunnels and dips. The Advanced Track has a steeper gradient and is a more adventurous ride with the thrill of banked corners, tunnels, dippers and cuttings.

With the Luge unique braking and steering system, you’re always in control, so you have the power to alter you course or speed at your will. Skyline Luge Queenstown provides 800 metres of fun, fast-paced freedom, and is a 'must do' activity on your Queenstown holiday!

And of course all this is to be found at the top of the Gondola, the steepest cable car lift in the Southern Hemisphere. Sit back and relax as the best views in the region unfold before your eyes and the Gondola carries you 450 metres above Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu to the top of Bob's Peak.

Please Note: For safety reasons you must complete the Scenic track on the first run of the day.

Super enjoyable for the whole family or the competitive group of friends. Trust us you will enjoy this know matter how old you are!

  • One ride down the Luge is definitely not enough. You have to at least ride twice, but 5 rides means that you see both tracks and get the hand of the corners and lines for maximum speed and excitement.
  • Dress for the weather. In winter you will need a warm hat, windproof jacket and gloves!
  • Closed toe shoes are best. Whether you call them "flip flops", "thongs" or "jandals" they are not the safest footwear for the Luge.

How do I Luge?

Purpose built Luge carts are gravity fueled and the rider has full control over speed and direction using a unique braking and steering system.

Where do I Luge?

Two Luge tracks wind downhill and end beside the main Skyline building at the top of the Skyline Gondola. From here a chairlift takes riders and carts back to the start zone or you can take the walking track to the start zone.

What are the open times?

The Skyline Queenstown Luge open from 10AM - 8PM daily all year round. In the winter time the lights come on after dark for Night Luge.
