Will I be able to canter?

The Hobbits' Hack is a walking paced rides and so there are no opportunities to canter. There are however opportunities to canter on The River Wild so long as the guide is satisfied with your ability and fitness to do so, and this doesn’t pose a danger to yourself and/or others. At all times a certain level of safety, and our guides judgement, has to be respected.

Do I need to wear a riding helmet?

Yes. Every client is provided with protective head gear which must be worn at all times during the ride for your own safety.

What will the weather be like?

Riding conditions in Glenorchy are generally good, invariably dry and sunny, however the weather can change rapidly so be prepared.

Will I get wet crossing the rivers on the ride?

Not intentionally. The guides will always test the river crossings and lead groups across the rivers. If in doubt an alternative route will be taken.

Can I take a camera on the ride?

Small cameras are welcome on all rides as there is a photo stop. However cameras should be securely fastened, either with a belt strap or in a zipped pocket. Cameras are carried at the riders own risk. Dart Stables do not take any responsibility for any loss or damage. Large/bulky cameras are not recommended.

What age is a child?

Child ages are deemed 15 years and under. Under 5's are not able to participate in any rides. You must be 7 years or older on The River Wild tour.
