Ultimate Queenstown

Book - Nevis Bungy

Anyone can tell you that Queenstown has a lot to offer – thrilling adventure, beautiful scenery and epic highs. But those who are really in the know about what to do in Queenstown will tell you that the Nevis Bungy is where it’s at if you want everything in one hit.

Set an epic 134m above the stark beauty of the Nevis River, the highest Bungy (bungee) in Australasia is a once in a lifetime experience. They start by lulling you into a false sense of security on board there comfortable buses for the scenic 35 minute drive to site, but things quickly take a turn for the daring as soon as you leave the highway for our 4x4 backcountry road.

Once onsite, the nerves gradually build as you’re whisked to our specially constructed highwire pod aboard a 6-person shuttle. Now, suspended between the valley walls, only one thing stands between you and glory as you face one of the greatest personal challenges of you life: your own fear. The Nevis Bungy is not for the faint of heart but if you conquer it – and you know you can – you’ll have earned the right to really tell people what to do in Queenstown, New Zealand.

Bungy Stats:

  • New Zealand's highest Bungy jump
  • Jump from a highwire cable car 134m
  • Massive ground rush - 8.5 seconds (or a lot of swear words)
  • Private mountain access road - 4WD Only
  • Free jump T-shirt

It's well worth the additional spend. The thrill you get from this jump is MASSIVE. I've done a lot of Bungy's and standing on the edge of this one still makes my legs quiver.

The freefall is noticeably longer at a massive 7 seconds!

What age do I have to be to Bungy Jump or Swing?

All Nevis Bungy jumpers must be at least 13 years old AND 45KGS.

What are the weight/height restrictions for a Bungy and Swing?

There are no height restrictions on Bungy jumping or swinging.

Nevis Bungy – 45kg min/127 KG max
Nevis Swing - 35kg min/220 KG max

What is the difference between a Bungy and a Swing?

A Bungy jump utilises AJ Hackett's custom made Bungy Cords - after free-falling the cord stretches out to allow you to bounce a few times in an adrenalin fuelled but safe manner. Whilst the Swing attaches to you via wire cables and the Swing rope, swingers never bounce. After a short free fall the wire or rope catches you and the sensation is the same as a rollercoaster and you will swing in a massive arc.

Which one is the biggest?

The Nevis Bungy is the Highest Bungy jump in Australasia; it's a whopping 134m!

Do I have to wear shoes?

Covered footwear is mandatory for the Nevis Bungy.

Can my friends and family come watch me?

Absolutely! All of AJ Hackett Bungy sites have the capacity to host spectators. Depending on which site it is, there can be costs associated with spectating.

Can I drive myself?

No...the Nevis Bungy site is strictly 4WD private access road only, so you must ride on AJ Hackett buses.

How long does it take?

We recommend you to allow at least 3.5 hours for the Nevis Bungy or Nevis Swing.

Do I need to book ahead?

We strongly suggest to all customers that they book at least 48hrs in advance for all activities to ensure that they secure a time and date that best suits them.

What's the difference between the Ledge Swing and the Nevis Swing?

Firstly, size is the main difference. The Nevis Swing is the World's Biggest Swing - it is a 70m drop that then swings in a massive 300m arc, hurtling you through the valley at crazy speeds. The Ledge Swing is a rope style swing of roughly 40m but located 400m above the magnificent Queenstown resort.

What's the difference between the 3 Bungy Sites in Queenstown?

The main difference is the size; the Nevis Bungy is almost 3 times higher than the Kawarau Bridge and The Ledge Bungy sites. The Nevis is AJ Hackett's big one, 134m of pure adrenaline action, wearing a full body harness that attaches at both your waist and feet.

The Kawarau is the original - the only site that allows you to get wet if your heart desires and the only one where you are lowered down into a raft after your jump. It is also the only site in Queenstown where you can tandem Bungy!

The Ledge Bungy is the only site where your feet are not tied together. It is a full body harness jump that allows you do a freestyle jump, back flips and run off the ledge.

Does a Thrillogy or any of your other combos have to be completed in one day?

No. You have up to a year to complete all 3 or more of the chosen products

I want to go tandem, can I?

No, not on the Nevis Bungy. However, the Nevis Swing can be done in tandem.

What are the restrictions for Tandem Bungy jumps?

The maximum combined weight at the Kawarau is 235KG. There cannot be more than a 30KG difference between the weights of the two Jumpers. Please note that other considerations will be taken into account on the day such as height difference and the weather. AJ Hackett cannot guarantee until the day of your jump that you will be able to do it tandem.  However, they will work with you to ensure that you are taken care of.

Can I jump if i have a medical condition?

Please inform the AJ Hackett Bungy Crew if you have any of the following conditions: High & Low Blood Pressure, Heart Condition, Epilepsy, Pregnancy, Fragile Skin, Neurological Disorder, Bone Disorder, Dislocations, Diabetes, Asthma, Prosthetics, Cosmetic Implants, Panic/Anxiety Attack, Recent Sprains & Muscular Injuries. These conditions do not necessarily exclude a person from Bungy/ Catapult/Swings. It is important for all customers to declare any of the above medical conditions when they check in. For any other pre-existing medical condition please talk to the expert Bungy crew and they will make an assessment on a case by case basis. Please bring any relevant written doctors’ advice with you.
