Our pick for the most consistent snow and best time of year to visit Queenstown in winter months is late July to early September!

If you don’t have kids then travel outside of the incredibly busy school holiday periods. It may save you time and money! Plus you don’t have to share the slopes with the holiday crowds!

New Zealand School Holidays: Saturday 4th July to Sunday 19th July
Australian School Holidays: Saturday 27th June to Sunday 19th July

There are loads of great winter events on in 2020, so plan your trip around these if you fancy taking part (or not!)

Queenstown Winter Festival: Thursday 18th June – Sunday 21st June
Winter Pride - Gay Ski Week: Sunday 30th August - Tuesday 8th September

How do I make up my own package? I can’t see one that suits me

Email us and we will be able to help with a custom itinerary.

Do you have a package that would suit if I've never skied/snowboarded before?

Our 3 or 5 day first timer packages would be perfect. You'll get two lessons with a qualified instructor on day one, access to all the beginner area and lots of time in between lessons to practice what you've learned. Day two includes a lesson and learning at the same ski school works better. We recommend Cardrona as it is less busy and more space for beginners.

Is clothing included in the packages?

No, however you can rent all clothing necessary where and when you collect your rental equipment.

Can I take a day off with the packages?

Yes, with most packages a day off the slopes can be taken at anytime during your holiday. However, if you have rental equipment included, you can only take a break for one day. This is due to the rental equipment only allowing one days grace absolutely free of charge when you hire equipment for three days or more. If you wish to take more than one day off over your holiday you will need to either return the rental equipment in-between or pay for the extra days hire.

Can I swap between skiing and snowboarding on a package?

Yes, with the exception of the 3 or 5 day beginner packages as it is recommended that you stick to one discipline during the learning phase. Chat to the rental staff on arrival and they can advise you.

Should I get a lesson if I have never skied/snowboarded before?

Yes. At least one lesson is recommended if you have never skied/snowboarded before. The instructor will teach you techniques and ways to do things to prevent injury. You will progress much faster in lessons with a qualified instructor rather than if you were to learn from a friend or just go for it on your own, meaning the rest of your ski holiday will be much more enjoyable.

Is there anything to do for non-skiers?

Yes. There is tubing at Coronet Peak and guided snowshoe tours available. Browse the Thrill and Relax areas of our site to see the numerous activities available to book in Queenstown. If you can get bored in the adventure tourism capital of the world there is something wrong.
