Book - Heli-Biking

Choose from Queenstown's best half or full day Heli-biking tours.

NEVIS: FULL DAY HELI BIKE [1 Run]

This epic ride starts with an amazing 15 minute flight over the remote Nevis Valley and beyond the Remarkables Range to land at 1700m on the eerie rocky moonscape-like terrain of the Old Woman Range. Undulating, fast flowing trails and technical single track to the bottom. This is an intermediate grade ride, not too extreme it and will suit most riders. This is Fat Tyre Adventures' original Heli-bike trip and still the most popular! You will finish the trip in the heart of one of the worlds' best Pinot Noir wine growing regions. DURATION: Allow 5-6 hours

CROWN PEAK: HALF DAY HELI BIKE [1 Run]

A beautiful 8 minute flight to the top of Crown Peak at 1750m will offer epic 360 degree views of the Cardrona Valley and Wanaka area. This scenic heli bike trip drops down through historic gold-mining relics to amazing single track tucked along a gully gorge. The final descent off the Crown Terrace is fast and takes us down the historic Tobins Track wagon trail to the picturesque historic village of Arrowtown where we can stop for some southern hospitality and refreshments. DURATION: Allow 3-4 hours

DOUBLE DESCENT: FULL DAY HELI BIKE [2 Runs]

Not for the faint hearted. Two big descents equal a massive 2900m descent in one day! After an awesome flight into the Remarkables Range you will land at just over 6000ft, the highest of all Heli-biking in New Zealand. Get ready for 15km of rock garden trails descending into the open alpine tundra you can only experience at this altitude. They call in the chopper to come and fly us to the stunning 1700m Crown Peak that has 360 vistas taking in Wanaka and Queenstown. You can just make out the houses of Arrowtown way down in the valley - at the final destination for a well earned beer! DURATION: Allow 6+ hours

How may riders will I be riding with on the trip?

5 riders (plus guide) is the maximum on most Heli-bike trips although there are occasions when there are a few more.

Will I be riding with riders my own ability?

Where possible YES! Fat Tyre has a simple policy that the first rider to book gets the choice of ride for the day. If they are an advanced rider they will try their best to book similar riders on that trip. They deliver great mountain bike rides for mountain bikers of all abilities and do our best to accommodate all tastes.
