Sunshine Bay Walking Track

For a picturesque stroll along Lake Wakatipu, head along Queenstown’s Lake Esplanade to the Sunshine Bay walking track.

A short walk out of the town centre or a couple of minutes’ drive will lead you to the trail head just beyond 1 mile creek on the road to Glenorchy.

The track itself follows the curves along the shores of the lake, through some native forest and past some incredible views across the lake and mountains before reaching the beautiful beach of Sunshine Bay.

The scenery from this track is spectacular, so do be sure to take along your camera. There are a couple of spots to sit back and soak up the views and watch the world go by. As always in Queenstown, there is certainly a lot to see with lake activities such as the TSS Earnslaw, Queenstown Paraflights and the Hydro Attack boats passing you by.

The track undulates with a few short climbs, rocky steps and roots but is suitable for all fitness levels. It comes highly recommended for those wanting some iconic photos of the Remarkables. Enjoy!
