Ultimate Queenstown

About Us

Ultimate Queenstown is the brain child of Dave and Kate Fahey. Tourism is what we do! We have over 30 years combined experience working in all areas of tourism from front line guiding, trip leading and customer service through to sales and marketing. Queenstown is our home and it is our pleasure to share the best of it with you.

We have guided and experienced both single and multi-day tours in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, USA, Thailand, Japan and Uganda. This combined with our passion for travelling means that not only have we worked for some of the world’s leading tourism operators but have experienced many activities from the customers perspective.

We believe we are well equipped to take our piece of paradise to the world and deliver you, our customers the Ultimate Queenstown experience.

Our mission is to share with you what makes Queenstown so special to us. We have hand-picked activities and experiences that will not just meet, but exceed expectations. We understand that time is precious and money doesn’t grow on trees so have listed and created combos and packages designed to save you time and money and tip the ‘thrillometer’ off the scale.

Every activity listed has been tried and tested, every line skied and every trail ridden. It’s a pain staking job but someone has to do it!!! With local knowledge and experience you can be sure that what you have paid for is what you will get & that you and the whole family will be well catered for and looked after.

We hope that our site provides you the one stop shop for your Queenstown holiday. For any further information on any activity, combo or package please don’t hesitate to drop us an email.

Happy holidays & keep an eye out for us on the hills, trails and waterways of Queenstown – after all this is our backyard.

Dave & Kate Fahey

The Remarkables, Queenstown NZ

Dave has peterpan syndrome, he refuses to grow up and take life too seriously! If not in the UQ office Dave is probably missioning around Queenstown somewhere, making the most of our natural landscape, or trying to wrangle our equally energised son Connor or dog Jess.

Dave has spent his whole life in search of adventure. He spent 16 straight summers travelling the world as a raft guide and safety kayaker, playing on rivers and in search of the perfect rapid. On a river trip to Canada Dave was bitten by the ski bug and since then hasn't been able to pull himself away from the mountains.

A love for the outdoors and the need to ski brought Dave home to New Zealand, where the natural choice to settle was Queenstown. Since moving away from rafting Dave hasn't been able to shake the river bug & now finds himself behind the wheel of V8 powered Jetboats. If he's not on the river he's in the hills either on his mountain bike or skis. When the legs get tired you'll find him answering your email queries or putting together your ski quote, so you too can experience his love of the mountains.

Keep an eye out for him as he might well be your jetboat driver or the person sharing the chairlift or trail with you.

I was a Primary School Teacher from Wales, working in England, when the travel bug bit me! I’d gone away on a month’s adventure camping across the USA and Canada, Paragliding, White water rafting and experiencing scenery that blew my mind, and I realised that I did not want to go back to the real world! Of course I had to go back, but it didn’t last long, one year later I was travelling around Europe, I did a skydive from a helicopter, I went canyoning in the Austrian Alps, and when I got back, I applied for a job as a tour guide and never looked back! For the next 3 years I took my microphone and clip board on the road and guided 100s of people across Europe, I spent my winters skiing in Austria, my summers switching countries every other day, leading group tours of up to 49 days from Paris to Istanbul, Barcelona to Budapest and everything in between!

In 2016 I left Europe behind and travelled through Thailand on my way to New Zealand, after a few months travelling and exploring this beautiful country, I went to Australia to be a tour guide again,  this time on the East Coast, Surfing in Crescent head, Diving on the Great Barrier Reef and holidaying in the outback. Eventually New Zealand was calling, and I spent another few months as a guide here before the draw of Queenstown hooked me completely!

I now get to call this amazing little place home, whether it’s hiking the many trails, and taking in the spectacular views, or rafting down white water rapids before hopping in a jet boat, Queenstown is a special place, and if you haven’t watched the sun set over Lake Wakatipu, put it on your list!
